It’s happening more and more \u2013 couples are letting their parents in on wedding day photos. They’re getting involved and having fun, which is great. But, here’s the thing, you want those pictures to come out exactly the way you envisioned them \u2013 not what mom and dad imagined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To help out, here are 5 tips for including your parents in your wedding photos and having them turn out exactly how you want them to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. Invite Both Sets of Parents to Help Pick Out their Outfits<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you’re having a destination wedding, this might not be possible. But if you’re hosting your nuptials at home or somewhere else close by, both sets of parents should be invited to help pick out their outfits for their big day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inviting them to help pick out their outfits will help them feel included in the process and give them an opportunity to feel like they have some control over what they wear on their child’s special day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2. Ask Your Parents to Pose With You for Photos<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even if it\u2019s just for one photo, asking both sets of parents to pose with you is a great way to include them in your day! Not only does this give them something special from the day (and a keepsake), but it helps create some beautiful images of everyone together on your big day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
3. Let Them Take Pictures with You Before the Ceremony<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You don’t need to take pictures with all of your guests before the ceremony \u2014 but it’s nice if you do! If possible, try to find time before the ceremony so that everyone has some time to relax before having their pictures taken. If this isn’t possible, then at least try not to schedule pictures right after the rehearsal dinner so that people aren’t too full or too tired from dancing all night!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
4. Include Family Heirlooms in Your Photos<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If there are any family heirlooms or other sentimental items you would like to include in your wedding photos, it’s important to let the photographer know beforehand so they can be properly prepared. For example, if you have an antique ring that belonged to one of your ancestors and you want it photographed, you should let the photographer know ahead of time so they can make sure it’s ready for the shoot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
5. Make Sure Everyone Knows What They’re Doing<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you have any concerns about how your parents might react to being photographed or videotaped during the ceremony, make sure they understand what’s expected of them beforehand. If they don’t know what’s going on and just stand around looking confused while everyone else is having fun, their expression could end up on camera and it could make you look bad later on down the road when friends and family watch your wedding video or flip through photo albums together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
