New Orleans Engagement Session Location | Louis Armstrong Park
New Orleans Wedding Photographer | Amin Russell Photography
I have photographed at this park many times and every time I visit, I try to make each session as unique as the last. The scenery at Louis Armstrong Park provides the perfect backdrop to create these amazing images. This park, located in the heart of New Orleans, is one of my favorite places to photograph because of its versatility and surroundings.
Ashanti and Louis were loads of fun and looked absolutely great together! It was a pleasure creating these amazing images at Louis Armstrong Park.
His side: She showed up as a mutual friend, 14 years ago on April 11, on myspace. I messaged her and the friendship began. Once we finally did meet in person, after months of facebook, phone, and skyping, Her eyes pierced through me at first glance. I was amazed at the friendship we built. Years passed as just friends before moving to the next phase.
When did you know he/she was the one?
Her side: I knew he was the one, the moment he announced to me, ‘the best friend’, that he was having a baby by his then, girlfriend. As much as I hid those feelings, I cried for days because I was scared to ever let him know that I was in love with my best friend.
His side: I knew she was the one the moment I first saw her with my own eyes, but at the time we were young. And she always pulled the ‘I cant have a boyfriend ‘ card, so as time moved on, I put the thoughts and feelings aside and accepted that, Since I can’t live without her, I’ll just make sure our friendship lasts forever, at the least.
His side: I had planned for months, her sister was the first, then her mother, then our children (who surprisingly kept it secret)
Initially, it was take a flight tour, and upon return having her look down on the runway to see, the question, with a dinner awaiting there. But getting her to do anything advengurous is like getting a penguin to fly.
So I opt for something simple, yet still grand enough to get a proper consideration. So I called up Ponchatrain Vineyards, scheduled a wine tasting, had a photographer secretly snapping pictures, while we had a picnic in the vineyard. There, is where it all began.
Her side:
I had no idea what was about to happen and that my life was about to change forever. I was told that we were going horseback riding and he had me believing it until that very moment. We began this casual date at Ponchatrain Vineyard for a tour and wine tasting. (so basically, he tried to get me drunk lol). We walked in the building and start tasting the wine waiting for the Wine Maker to start the tour. All of this is normal because Lou loves wine. The tour took about 30 min followed by an array of wine tastings. Then we started taking a walk around the vineyard looking at the growing grapes. I look over across the vineyard to see a picnic set up and he tells me its our picnic. As surprised as I was, I still was not expecting anything. lol. As music played softly in the background, played uno, reminisced, laughed and then he asked me to dance. Before i knew it, he was on one knee. I cried uncontrollably before finally accepting his hand in marriage and now I’m on this #RoadToCagerLand!
Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.
Her side: I Love His heart. It is the purest, kindest, most genuine heart I have every come across. His heart not just for me or our family, but for the world. Dangerous but Beautiful. Oh and his arms, and butt.
His side: Her aura of invincibility, her spirit of strong will, her heart. Strong but fragile. Crack but not broken. Full of fear but bleeds courage. She is black, bold, beautiful. Her strength personified from birth. She is the matriarch, she is our family’s mother. She is the backbone of our family’s world.
Besides getting married – what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
Her side: Seeing him dance and smile, He’s serious a lot of times, being dad gets a little silly but between always working and being ‘Disciplined and routine Dad’ can keep him in a serious mode sometimes. Oh, and cake, I love cake.
His side: Seeing her finally walk down the aisle to me, willingly giving herself to me, that very moment. A moment I dreamt of for years.
